Hakata Station is huge – it’s a huge mall and there’s even a Tokyu Hands right there (we did not explore it as we’ve already explored Tokyu Hands thoroughly while in Tokyo).

The hotel is fine in terms of easy walking distance from Hakata Station, cleanliness, and everything that I love about the Toyoko Inn chain. I liked that there was an affordable restaurant next to the hotel where we had gyudon for dinner.
| Day 19 hotel breakfast |
Oh yes, this hotel is also where we had the best Toyoko Inn breakfast (the worst was at Toyoko Inn Asahikawa) among the 12 Toyoko Inns we stayed in during our 28-day Japan trip. In addition to the de rigueur traditional Japanese breakfast of onigiri, pickles, miso soup and breads, egg and hotdogs, this hotel also served SIX varieties of delicious Japanese side-dishes – I loved the braised egg plant, ladies fingers, lotus stem, braised daikon, cabbage roll with bacon strips and sweet potato. Even the miso soup had generous clumps of mushrooms. Pity we only stayed here for one night!
