Good budget hotel in Kanazawa - Toyoko Inn Kanazawa-eki Higashi-guchi

Day 8 hotel breakfast

Day 7 hotel breakfast
This Toyoko Inn is closer to the Kanazawa Station than the one at Kenrokuen Korinbo. With the one at Kenrokuen Korinbo, you need to transfer to a bus and I know we’d have a hard time with boarding/alighting from a bus with the amount of luggage we have.
A non-smoking economy double room

Being within walking distance from the train station I arrive at was VERY important to me as I had four kids and five trolleys (only my youngest child GG was spared from pulling a trolley bag), and each of us also had a backpack.

Sigh, it was winter and our very first winter holiday, and we’re people born and bred in sunny, tropical Singapore. I discovered I did bring too much clothes (as concerned relatives kept advising us to bring a lot of warm clothing for the kids), half of which we never got round to wearing even in Hokkaido near end December. Oh, well. I know better next time.
Anyway, these two Toyoko Inns in Kanazawa had no difference in rate but walking distance from the train station was the clincher for me. We are a family of great walkers (we can walk leisurely and sight-see at the same time for hours, from the time we leave the hotel till the time we return to the hotel after dinner), and after dumping our luggage at Toyoko Inn Kanazawa-eki Higashi-guchi, we were able to walk everywhere – to the Kanazawa castle, Kenrokuen, etc. That saves a lot on bus/tram fares as these fares aren’t cheap in Japan. And I love the fact that it walks off the big breakfast we load up at the Toyoko Inn breakfasts we have every morning.

The photos of the two breakfasts (we stayed two nights here) reminds me that this hotel served a good selection of buns with different fillings inside. Yummy! It was a good start to our Japan trip with the Toyoko Inn chain as our accommodation, but sad to say, a number of other Toyoko Inn outlets failed miserably to match our initial Toyoko Inn breakfast experience at this Kanazawa branch, which is our second hotel stop (our first hotel stop at Toyoko Inn Ikebukuro 2 in Tokyo provided good breakfast as well).
Higashi means East, so take the East exit when you arrive at Kanazawa Station.
